Words to live by...

“To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”

P.E., lockers, and the sweetest daughter ever

This will be a short post, I need to jot down a few sweet and funny things Juliet said to me this week.

The morning of my first day of school:

Me: "Juliet, will you grab my running shoes for me please?"

Juliet: "Mommy, is today your P.E. day too?!"

And when I was dropping her at school that same morning, she kissed me and said:

Juliet: "Have the best first day of school ever!"

Finally, a couple of days ago she asked if my school gives me a locker with a lock on it. I forgot that when you're 7, things like binders, homework, and lockers are something to look forward to!

She never fails to make me smile!

Carrot anyone?

Life is finally settling down a bit. Juliet and I have moved to Wallingford, so the 3 of us are finally under one roof. The last of the furniture is being delivered tomorrow.

Now all we have to do is deal with the packed to the seams garage.

It taunts me.

It makes me twitch.

I may start having nightmares about the lack of organization.

I know, I'm a freak.

Juliet started the 2nd grade at Marvista, and she's loving it. In her words it's "AWESOME!".

Makes my heart happy.

And in a lovely turn of events, I'm now a full time student too! It's funny being back at the college I attended 10 years ago, and my classmates are definitely about that much younger than me, but I am thrilled to be there.

Before you know it, I'll be an RN. Me! Can you believe that?!

Finally, to usher out The Summer That Never Was and welcome The Fall That Will Surely Bring Rain, Juliet & Nani harvested their crop of carrots!

In the spring they planted purple, yellow, white, and good ol' orange carrots.
Who knew my parents have perfect soil for carrot farming?

We ended up with a few (ahem... TONS) carrots!

Thank you, Nani, for growing these with Juliet. They were pretty good!

First day of 2nd grade

Is today.

She's there, shooed me right out of the classroom.

So darn independent.

I love her.

Hope you're having a fantastic first day of school, honey!

End of Summer 2010

I'm a bit behind on this blogging thing, it's been a busy few weeks filled with packing/moving/cleaning our entire apartment to the new house in Wallingford. Glad to be moved, but it was so much work!

While I was doing that, my parents took Juliet on a week long trip to Lake Chelan. We're hoping this will become an annual family tradition, I love Lake Chelan! After a few days of hard work, I took off and drove over the mountain to join everyone.

As usual, it was a blast. The surroundings couldn't be more beautiful. Again, I love Lake Chelan!

On the last day we were there, Juliet & Papa woke up early and went out on the lake to see if they could catch anything.

They came back with 3 trout!

Papa taught Juliet how to clean them out, and we packed them on ice for the ride home to Seattle!

Once home, Keyo & Juliet fried them up!

Thanks for teaching her to fish, Papa!
